August 2016 – Microsoft has been gradually phasing out ACTIVE X functionality, their original technique for MS Excel access and saving through a web browser. http://mashable.com/2015/05/11/microsoft-edge-security/#TSjlG_8kfEqo Using this method, those of you who have historically used Internet Explorer (IE) to access VISCO may have noticed that you were able to save MS Excel spreadsheets back to the cloud without the “upload” option that has become the new convention for all forms of document transfer (including Microsoft’s IE replacement: EDGE).
Meanwhile, VISCO is slowly phasing out Active X as well, however, without an alternative that allows true system-generated document save back, Active X is still a part of many customers day to day use of VISCO.
In what can best be described as “ripping off the Band-Aid” today, it became apparent that to continue to support Active X until it is completely phased out, we were going to have to require IE VISCO users to login to each file to access and save back documents.
What does this mean?
Here is the good news: VISCO Users in Chrome, Safari, Edge or any browser other than IE will see no difference in their VISCO functionality.
Unfortunately, those of you who were using IE and were not previously required to login to documents, will now have to do so. That login prompt will look like the screenshot below: Please call VISCO support (845-383-3800) for credentials.
